Life & times at Theo's Greek Taverna, Wellington, New Zealand

Theo's Greek Taverna opened on 16th April 1997 and for nearly 10 years was unquestionably Wellington's home of great Greek food, wines, live music, dancing, atmosphere and fun. Our motto, performed by actions, not just words, was: "We are serious about fun!"

This simple statement said it all regarding what Theo's offered: "Theo's Greek Taverna offers a truly memorable Greek experience... the total Greek experience... great food wine, music, dancing entertainment, atmosphere and the happy fun nature of a typical taverna you would find on any Greek Island or in Plaka, the heart of Athens itself."

This video has been compiled to record the fun, the passion, the camaraderie and the life and times at Theo's Greek Taverna, so those who enjoyed it can perhaps experience again the nostalgia of those amazing times.

The three tracks comprising the soundtrack are live recordings performed by the resident band, comprising: Alex Theodoridis (guitar), Tony Tziakis (bouzouki), Nick Christie (guitar, bass) and Theo Simeonidis (mandolin)

@nazztube Thanks for your kind words. Yes sorry you didn't make it - The TGT experience was unique! However, on the very same premises there is now The Hop Garden, which I visited with friends over the weekend, while in Wellington, and enjoyed it immensely.  Stay well!

@ElGreeko13 Your welcome and thanks for the recommendation but with 100% Greek blood and almost totally lost to the whole community, it was that Greek flavour I would love to have tried and taken others along to as well.

Fingers crossed that perhaps one day there's another Taverna venture planned. Fortunately I have a good uncle and cousins in Kilbirnie so that gorgeous food isn't totally lost for me come Christmas.
