Beginning with the discovery of ancient fossils found in Germany at a time when Charles Darwins "The Origin Of Species" had not even tapped into the publics consciousness, "Ape To Man" is an engaging and entertaining documentary that features both re-enactments of various paleoentological expeditions and their discoveries as well as dramatizations depicting how these ancient ancestors to contemporary humans might have appeared and behaved. From Eugene Dubois discovery of Homo erectus in 1890, Raymond Darts discovery of Taung Child in 1920, through the fraudulent creation of Piltdown Man, the mistake of Nebraska Man to the contemporary DNA tests performed by top scientists and researchers, "Ape To Man" raises some interesting insight into the origin of humanity with interview clips of distinguished professors in the fields of anthropology, palaeo-anthropology, anatomy, philosophy and biology, each discussing the ever-changing understanding of humanitys origins. Among the interesting insights revealed is that the size of the brain was not so much a deciding factor in development of the species, but how they used their environment to create tools going as far back to the first upright walking descendent to move from one tree to the next for food and safety millions of years ago.

  • dumb question but is a bi-racial homo sapiens a different species

  • @agagzly No. The reality is that the genetic diversity in humans is quite low despite the historical segregation. There are far greater genetic differencescomparing chimps with other chimps than you get when you compare the DNA of all humans from different lineages.

  • Take that vegetarians!

  • Recent DNA evidence suggests that (at least some) Neanderthals were redheads. I look forward to see reconstructions of 'gingerthals' in future documentaries and museum displays :)

  • Something I've never understood. Most religions look down on all animals as second place. Why is it so terrible that we might come from animals? Some are so arrogant about it and without tools we aren't even the top of the food chain. Some cases even with tools we are totally helpless.

  • why are the ancient humans depicted white? Clearly they were black

  • Ever notice how unevolved these christians are?

  • why the fuck did Lucy do that, now I gotta pay taxes. Damn u Lucy---just kidding

  • @Ennie12396 A flat pelvis and also the direction of the spinal chord to the head. Apes spinal chord has more angle while human and human-ancestors' is more upright. The flat pelvis shows that most of the time the animal was standing and it supports organs etc... There are videos that explain that on youtube.

  • @Cephalochordata And I sir, prefer "maryannisthals".

  • hehe.. homo erectus...

  • note the difference in this video's like/dislike ratio to the first 8 parts of the series...
