Following a long rebuild, I give the old girl a jump start off my work van. No pipes yet but still runs sweet!

  • I did that with my old XV - the neighbours weren't too happy ! :-) (Neither was I when I pulled the cams out and found that the lack of back pressure had somehow made the rockers score into them.... :-( )

  • Yeah I wouldn't recommend it for a long-term plan, apart from potential valve damage the cops would pull you over real quick too!

  • respect! great job!

  • I don't suppose you have any more vids of the bike, i.e. riding around and such? Sounds nice and looks 10x better!

  • its a ugly riding position, change the steer please. Now i am continuing watchin halle berry

  • Yes the XV cylinders were based on the TT500 design and they are notorious for cam wear due to poor oil circulation - I have fitted high flow oil lines to my TT500 and SR400 motors now so I'm hoping that will improve them. You need to check the tappets every year as well! :)

  • yhea mine sound's like a peice of shit when i start it , i still gotta buy the shims

everyone say's my starter is stripped but it's not that at all,i made them metal bar things 4 the cam cover :) n the crash bars i added, iv'e had mine to 160kph and it was still climin but i let off because these bikes are criusers n not made to rev high

,mine has a bit of a tick on the front cylinder ,i think they all do, it's either the tappets need adjusting or the cam lobe is worn ,not shure yet

  • Yes yours is a nice bike. The black one is an '83 and they sold them here with the XV emblem on the side cover and without the leg guards on the rear cylinder cam chain cover but the same bike basically. I fitted the starter motor shim kits available on ebay and it fixed the starter noises on both. Great bikes.

  • yhea i see that,lol

,the one in the background look's like the one i have in my vid,

i bet ur's have a noisey starter problem to eh ?

  • Yeah it was loud - it kinda gets lost in the viideo but you can see by the ear muffs that it was fairly noisy.
