A dramatic presentation of the writing and delivery of this singular document shows the historical and political background for Abraham Lincoln's impassioned 1863 speech. Using flashbacks showing the pain, suffering, and horror of the Civil War, this program points out that while Lincoln was not the main speaker, and though his speech received little attention at the time, to later generations it came to represent the bitter struggle and personal loss of life during this wrenching period of our nation's growth. Students will develop an empathy for what it was like to be a part of the conflict that tore a nation asunder. An LCA release. 21 minutes, color.

Lincoln has to be the best president ever in my opinion. He forgave the south and knew it was not about South Vs. North. Both were just as American as the other.
