I agree. I also think it was because the bosses at the radio stations or record labels thougt the public just wanted short, snappy songs. In some ways, the fact that most of the chart songs around that time were around the 2 minute mark meant people would not get bored with them and would want more or to listen to them again more readily.

most of those recording in those days were cut on 45 records... quick records filled the jukeboxes. 1 thin dime and those old jukeboxes filled the air for hours. had nothing to do with the boses. had more to do with cramming the hits in limited play time. too many long hits, less time to cover all the hot hits.

Probley because it was too expencive to go on for more than that or that there wasnt enough space on the simple record for more than 4 - 6 songs lol Short but sweet ^^
