New Arrivals: 1,000 Blues and Soul LPs!

Early Sept., 2010. We have just put out a very nice collection of around 500 blues and 500 Soul records. It's been a hot and busy summer for us and the LPs have been flooding in, but it's been a while since we reached out, and this collection seemed a good place to resume.

While we often get blues records in, it's rare to see such a large collection at one time. These LPs are heavy on the Chicago style, but New Orleans and the more down-home country-blues are featured as well. Great well-known artists like Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Albert King, John Lee Hooker and others are fully represented. And, as you would imagine from a collection this size, there are many less-common names; Johnny Shines, Cary Bell, Willie Mabon, and Walter Horton just to name a few at random.

The soul records are also very nice. The collection includes a great assortment of hundreds of titles, many in the blues-tinged or R&B veins. Actually we had some difficulty categorizing many of the artists; Big Maybelle? Etta James? Johnny "Guitar" Watson? Great music, but tough to pin down. Also healthy helpings of classic artists like Joe Tex, Clarence Carter, Otis Redding, Solomon Burke, and many others.

However, serious please note that these titles are almost all later reissues; There are a few originals, but most of these records were pressed from the mid 70's to the early 80's. Impeccably maintained, the covers and records are almost without exception very clean.

As this collection is not heavy on rarities, the vast majority of titles have been priced from $1.00 to $14.99, with just a few dozen higher. All are out now in the new arrival bins.
For those of you who are unaware of our store, please note that we are a bricks-and-mortar, walk-in store only. Sorry, no mail order.

Hope to see you soon.
