Ethel May Carter speaks in support of Handicab during the public comment section of the March 24th Taxicab Authority meeting.

We need your help!
When: April 7th, 2009 @ 9:00 am
Where: Nevada Taxicab Authority 1785 E. Sahara Avenue Suite 200 Las Vegas, NV 89104
WHY?
The cab companies in Las Vegas are petitioning to have Handicabs application for a taxicab license denied. They say they are already meeting the needs of the Las Vegas senior and disability community and a new company is not needed. We need you there to tell them they are wrong. If we do not have a large turnout from the community, the Taxicab Authority will assume that the community does not care about this issue and Handicabs license will be refused without a hearing.
WHAT IS HANDICAB?
Handicab is a new proposed taxicab company that will be designed for people with disabilities and seniors with mobility challenges. Though you need not have a disability to ride with Handicab, priority will be given to those who do. All cabs will be 100% handicap accessible, with thoroughly trained drivers and dispatchers who understand the needs of people with disabilities. All cabs will be GPS equipped. Handicab will stage their cabs around the city and not let them congregate on the Strip and at the airport. The result will be much shorter wait times, especially for those who use a wheelchair or scooter.
