Amtrak Hickory Creek Passes through Marble Hill

This was filmed on October 26, 2008 at Metro-North's Marble Hill Station on the Hudson Line. Due to track work at Spuyten Duyvil select Amtrak Empire Corridor trains were set to run out of Grand Central Terminal. This very weekend Amtrak was doing something a little special. This is train #285 the Empire Service/Hickory Creek to Albany, NY. Here we see three P32AC-DM Genesis locomotives Metro-North/New Haven #230, Metro-North #208 and Amtrak #713 pull a set of five Amfleet cars and the New York Centrals Hickory Creek car. In its prime, this car ran in service on the Centrals 20th Century Limited between New York and Chicago. Today Amtraks Lake Shore Limited (trains 48 & 49) has replaced the 20th Century Limited as inter-city passenger service on the former Central line.

Metro-North engines were added because the Amtrak P32's don't have any emergency nose hatches or rear exits which is a requirement to run into the terminal. Because of this, while Amtrak had to use GCT instead of Penn Station, Metro-North/CDOT P32AC-DM's had to be added to the head end.
