  • does anyone else think that if the Pop album had've been a monster smash hit that they would've tried to top Popmart on the next tour?

  • @Hughezy Yeah

  • This is Willie Williams Show Designer-Lightning & screen display director

  • @Hughezy I dont think so. I think they realized they got a little too far away from home with Pop. I think that's why they toured in closed arenas (at least in America) for the Elevation Tour and opened with the lights on.

Even the title of "All That You Can't Leave Behind" represents their mentality towards making making music at that point.

Are those motivated purely on the financial outcome of Pop? Who knows. I'd like to think they weren't.

  • It's from Parken in Copenhagen

  • really cool u really never know just how much work it takes to built the stage

  • Absolutely amazing set up!

Pop may not of been U2's best albums but it was definitely one of the best tours by a mile.

  • the edge had a Dallas he is the man who change the effects in so many times

  • In 2001 (elevation) I heard the crew soundchecking in Arnhem (Holland). They played Springsteen's "Down by the river" and it sent shivers down my spine.

  • Someone decided this tour should be performed in mono, which I have to say sucked. I love the band, the music, and enjoyed the show very much (memphis), but the sound was not good. Stereo does work well for stadium shows, as I've witnessed a few with excellent sound. I don't think they'll make that mistake again.

  • U2 produced their masterpieces with couple AC30's, two guitars, delays, bass and drum. Voice and lyrics. And a simple stage.

No kidding their last albums can't take off as well as the previous ones did, they're a bit too weighted...
