Meijer closes on Christmas Eve

Meijer is open 364 days a year, which means it closes but once: Christmas Eve, 7:00pm. We were there to document the occasion.

Meijers sucks! They treat their employees like shit and claim they have a "union." The union can't do shit to protect anybody. Plus just like anti union Wal-Mart Meijers put in the shitty turnstyle checkout to eliminate bagger jobs. The new checkout literally hurts the cashiers because as cutomers rotate the thing it bangs into the cashier causing nasty painful bruises. Meijers/Wal-Mart = one in the same.

I agree Rutter (as well as Bradford and Goldsmith) is an ass, one of my friends from that place (Travis) ends up on the receiving end of his crap a lot. Hell he almost fell off the ladder cause Rutter decided to shake it a little as he was coming down. I never once said anyone should "just quit", all I did was state the turnstiles are hard to get hit by. Get your stuff straight before calling someone a mother fucker.

This company is so sad. They have a union but you hire in at minimum wage, after subtracting union does your actually making less than minimum. They were the first store to open 364 days, because you know, Fred Meier isn't content with just being worth 5,000,000,000 (That's billion with a B) and those damn pesky employs don't need to spend holidays with families! The Meijer XMAS bonus was a coupon for one doughnut and a SMALL! soda LOL (I swear it's true) The employees get no discout on anything

@dag1984 Sorry about jumping to conclusions. I know that guy you're talking about. Rutter thinks he's fucking funny when he does shit like that (shaking the ladder). All the bastard does is talk about his stupid sci-fi movies and thinks he's REALLY doing something when he works in meat. You're right: forgot to mention Goldilocks (Goldsmith), he's a prick too.

Anyway, I HATE those turnstiles. I work dry grocery, but I did some time as a checker: fucking hated it.

Actually if you are a SMALLER person you will get hit by the fucking thing because shorter people have shorter limbs and so to reach for shit short people have to get CLOSER to the fucking turnstyle to do their fucking job! Anyhow, aside from all of that my point about feeling sorry for the cashiers is that they should have help and have a fucking bagger only meijers copied Wal Mart in being a bunch of cheap bastards. Besides the baggers DO speed the process along anyhow.

@GranFury440 Seen it? I work at a Meijer in Kentucky I've run lane enough times to know the turnstyle isn't the problem. If you get hit by it you are probably a large person or love to lean against the base of the thing.

the union who does store is called the UFCW THEY bunch of asshole i used to work in store where no union steward for worker and union are not in the offices mon-friday they don't return your call if you leave messge on the voicemail.the union rep dress like out the godfather movices. by the way health benfit is two year depanding on the union number.

@dag1984. Standing in the way? Have you seen that turnstyle? It takes up almost all of the cashier's standing space! When the asshole customers swing that F****r around they bang it into the cashiers and it hurts them. BTW I don't work at meijer and I'm not a cashier but I do know what they go through. IT'S OBVIOUS!! The cashiers are trying to do their thing while the customers are manipulating the turnstyle and it just doesn't mesh. They need baggers. But greed prevails.
