Regarding economical globalization and new customers needs, each product is becoming almost a unique item with a reduced life-cycle, being necessary to adapt current shop floor assembly systems to this new volatile reality.
The shop floor system implementation described in this report takes a step further in direction to new agile shop floor systems by implementing a multiagent system in NovaFlex environment based on CoBASA architecture guidelines. Each shop floor component was agentified, providing it with adaptability and interaction capabilities, so that other agents can request for the skills provided by that equipment. Some components can be aggregated by the broker agent, creating coalitions that will support more complex skills, setting it available to all the other agents. The agents interaction content is defined by an ontology, and each generic MRA adapts to a specific instance by making a search in shop floor equipment database. The connection between each MRA and according physical component has an AMI as an intermediary that executes requested action.
This implementation is not a final product but a starting point to more sophisticated approaches, making use of the actual systems capabilities, increasing its features and applicability.
