Arthroscopic video of a subacromial decompression. Impingment syndrome is a common source of shoulder pain. In this disorder, the rotator cuff rubs against the acromion bone which arches above it. This causes pain with various arm positions and maneuvers. Most patients recover with non-surgical managment including anti-inflamatory medications, therapy, and cortisone injections. For those that fail non-operative treatment, a subacromial decompression is a surgical option.
