  • When Frank Miller was a child, his parents took him to see 300 Spartans. That was when he learned what it is to be a true hero. To be willing to sacrifice your own life for the lives of others with no thought of recompense. That is true courage.

As a kid, this cartoon, and especially this episode, did the same for me.

There are no cartoons anymore that show the characters willing to go the final mile for what's right.

We may never see the like of this show again. But I still hope.

  • What I love about this episode is that Max is scared. The writer's really put a lot of thought about how emotional this would be for a kid. It's also so dark. You would never find that in a cartoon today.

  • Did max just say that he rather be in Fresno?

  • Skullmaster said "...at my master's table". Question is, WHO is Skullmaster's master??

  • One of the few images I ever seen of a black woman being the hero.

  • Very nice at the end with the little monument in Max's yard.

  • This is one of the greatest animated shows ever written. Unfortunately, we will never see such artistry again.

  • @Dragonstorm787 His name is Skullmastermaster!

  • they could make a movie out of this episode, by far my favorite episode of mighty max

  • @shadowsonic2 first off, love the name. Secondly, his master is Chuck Norris.

Chuck Norris doesn't look for portals. He makes new ones by bending space with a faster-than-light round house kick.

  • The world would be a much better place if more people were this heroic.

  • @tiki98 Reminds me of the animorphs series. A bunch of kids forced to be heroes, they would have similar break downs like this. But it really instilled the idea of doing what you have to for the greater good. Even if your mind suffers.
