Chapter 23 Part 3
Principal: Alright everyone, gather round. Its time to announce Homecoming King and Queen!
Rachel: Come on. *she grabs Brians hand and drags him to the middle of the crowd*
Principal: Alright Homecoming Queen isCarolyn Simmons. [AN. just made up the last name]
Rachel: Ew. *Brian chuckled*
Principal: And the Homecoming King isBrian Hayes.
Rachel: Congrats. *she pushed him to the stage*
Principal:*as they are being crowned* As most of you know, this next song is the King & Queen dance. So you may dance with each other or pick someone else to dance with.
*Carolyn looked at Rachel in the crowd with a smug look. Rachel want to smack the look right of her face. Carolyn looked toward Brian, waiting for him to come over and dance with her. All she saw was the glint of the lights bouncing off of his crown as he made his way through the crowd.*
Brian: May I have this dance? *slight & comical bow, extends his hand*
Rachel:*smiles* Absolutely. *puts her hand in his*
*Brian, holding her hand, leads her toward the outdoor courtyard as the song begins, they start to dance.*
Rachel: Im glad you didnt pick Carolyn to dance with.
Brian: I am toootherwise it might make the question I have for you a little awkward.
Rachel: What question?
Brian:*stops dancing, looks in her eyes* Rachel. Will you be my girlfriend?
Rachel:*looks in his eyes that are searching hers for an answer, whispering* Yes.
Brian:*a smile slowly forming* Really?
Rachel:*smiles, louder now* Yes.
Brian: Well good. *Rachel looks at him quizzically* Then I would have no use for this. *pulls a box out of his pocket and hands it to Rachel*
Rachel:*looking at the box*
Brian:*laughs* Well, open it.
Rachel:*opens the box and covers her mouth with her hand* Brian*she looks up* Its beautiful. *she pulls out the gold necklace with a small pearl on it, her birthstone* Will you put it on me?[AN. Pic of necklace in the vid.]
Brian: Turn around. * he puts it on*
Rachel:*turns around her hand over the necklace* How did you know?
Brian: I asked your sister. She told me, then threatened me.
Rachel:*laughs* What did she say?
Brian: She said if I hurt you Id be sorry. It was a very vague threat. I think thats what scares me the most. *shudders*
Rachel:*laughs* Ill tell her to back off, shes only 13. *laughs, a comfortable silence, they just look at each other, she whispers* Thank you. I really love it.
*Brian just looks at her and leans forward. Rachel leans forward and their lips touch. Brian gently puts an arm around her waist and a hand in her hair. Rachels arms go around his neck, as the kiss lasts. To Rachel, the moment was perfect. They finally pull apart and look at each other.*
Brian: Are you hungry?
Rachel:*laughs* That was random.
Brian:*laughs too* Well its like 10 and we should go now if I want to get you home at a reasonable time, so I dont have to feel the wrath of Jessica. So I thought that we could ask Sarah & Jake to go get something to eat, if thats alright with you.
Rachel:*smiles* That sounds perfect. *she leans up and gives him a quick kiss, then grabs his hand and leads him back into the building*
Brian: Im going to go grab the coats and Ill tell Jake and Sarah.
Rachel: Alright, I have to call and let someone know that Ill be home later.
Brian: Okay, Ill meet you outside by the car?
Rachel:*smiles* Okay.
*She walks outside and calls the Jonas house, but no one answers. So she calls Joes cell phone. After 2 rings she hears someone answer.*
Rachel: Hello?
Joe:*worried* Rachel, are you okay?
Rachel: Joe, chill. Im fine. I called the house but no one answered.
Joe: Oh yeah. We all we out to dinner, we are on our way home right now. Is the dance over?
Rachel: Yeah, most people are leaving right now. But I was calling to say that we were thinking of grabbing a bite to eat with Sarah & Jake. Could you ask your parents if thats alright?
Joe: Sure. Whos Jake?
Rachel: Sarahs boyfriend.
Joe: Oh, okay. Ill ask them, hold on a sec.
Rachel: Kay. *she could hear mumbling and some movement, then Joe came back*
Joe: They said okay but dont be too late.
Rachel: Okay, thanks. Ill be home at 11:30pm at the very latest.
Joe: Alright, be safe.
Rachel: I will. Bye Joe.
Joe: Bye Rachel. *they hang up*
Brian:*walks up behind Rachel as she is putting her phone away* Hey.
Rachel:*spins around really fast* Oh my god, Brian you scared me! *smiles*
Brian: Sorry *hands her coat to her* You ready to go? Sarah suggested we go to Big Boy.
Rachel: That sounds good, lets go.
