"The musicians of the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra urge politicians to rethink priorities and not to truncate the long term work of performing orchestras. To invest today in music and culture is to invest in the future of global stability.
Culture is the foundation of an enlightened society, especially for its youth, whose character and way of understanding life are being formed. In an enlightened society we can live together peacefully and in equilibrium.
The seriousness of the current economic situation is due to a lack of empathy which comes from the greed and the desire to get rich quick. With cultured people, armed with common sense and sensitivity to the needs of others, this would not have happened.
