  • My step dad passed away in 2001 at 85. He was a home child from England and he told me that when he was a small boy in the orphanage in England, that he remembers Sir Harry Lauder coming and doing a concert for the boys. Must have been a nice man. Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks for the comment. My dad was in an orphange too, from the age of 9 to 14 when he was sent down to London to start work.

  • My Grandpa died today at 90 and I remember him singing this. He emigrated to Australia over 55 years ago, got back to Scotland once, and now I'm in London by myself away from my family. Thankyou so much for having uploaded this to help me remember my grandpa.

  • Oh, I loved this. Thank You. Harry Lauder is something like my great grandfather...or is it triple great grandfather. Anyhow, This is very cool!!

  • its easy to see why so many people from different generations still love harry. he sang from the heart, and yet again, another GREAT song.....jon.

  • another harry lauder song my parents used to play when i was a child, 1950's, we lived in philly then, having just moved here from glasgow, but my parents are from ireland.

  • he is my great great grandmothers cousin :)

  • I take a wee deoch an' doris afore I leave t'house, m'self. Or at least, when I got supplies

  • This was my Nanny & Grandad's song :)

  • It's really exciting to be hearing all these Sir Harry tunes, it's a little bit more family history I now get to experience. He was my nana's great Uncle, so for a wee lass from New Zealand it's nice to see his music is still being enjoyed :)
