Cessna 206 Turbo: SRQ, Hand flying the ILS Rwy 32 in IMC, breaking out around 400 feet. Finally, a non-CAVU landing video!

Featured in YouTube "High Definition"

BTW, I didn't realize how much the camera was being rotated during the first minute or so of the clip-- sorry about that! Gets annoying real fast.

  • Nicely shot ILS! Bet the PAPI and Ext CL were a welcome sight!

  • Thanks! Sure was, especially on an empty stomach! [=

  • Ah SRQ. My home airport is Punta Gorda. KPGD. My friend has a Super Cruiser and I met him at SRQ. Good little airport, and not terribly busy. Beautiful ILS approach, I have not flown a 206 but I have time in the 182. Good airplane. How do you like the G1000? I briefly flew a 182T equipped with it. At times the PFD would lag. Overall not a bad system. Great video.

  • I love the G1000, especially when compared to the Avidyne, it's just no competition.

As for the PFD lag, that's something I've not heard of. I would check into the software and/or hardware and get that fixed immediately. Having a laggy PFD, especially during IMC, isn't all that good! [:

  • I agree. I am not instrument rated and the plane was a rental. They were aware of the problem. It was one of the first G1000 equipped 182s. The GPU inside may have gotten too hot. Have you flown a 182? Are the flying characteristics a lot different? I'd imagine the 206 Turbo has greater performance.

  • Haven't flown a 182, but from what I hear, it's quite a bit lighter on the controls and is about 10ktas slower at cruise.

  • That was pretty.

I know most pilots won't admit it but how much seat cushion did you have to pull out of your sphincter?

Getting you first ground reference at 400 ft AGL is never routine.

  • why would two people dislike this??? jealous sim pilots I think...

  • Centurion 4.0 engines are problems like mine gave me a serious accident en cessna 206 because the engine was broken in flight and also with the aggravation that broke a 150 A fuse vessels which are in the back of the plane could not replace flight, I left without any functioning electrical system the outcome was that I crash with a motor that was in the home warranty and does not take responsibility Centurion Mindful of those who buy these motores leer While the contract

  • It's a great feeling to break out

  • Great job on that landing! I would've freaked out in that weather.

  • @RainbowManification Yeah, life stinks before youre 18. i'm thriteen, but i've already started on my PPL.

  • I really need to start my PPL. Only problem is no one will hire 15 year olds

  • Very nice! Gotta love that Approach =) I fly there on little routes from KVNC and practice my touch and gos at KSRQ, do you own the plane?

  • Haha! 8o)
