I found and fixed a bug in the synfig animation package. The first 5 seconds of the animation are before the fix, and the last 5 seconds are after the fix. Is the difference visible on YouTube?

  • Is this a Super Sample Layer?

  • @Joschicomic I don't think it is. The juddering you see in the first few seconds was due to an error in the source code of the synfig program. I fixed it and made this video to demonstrate how my fix improved things. Using a supersample layer may well have disguised the bug altogether.

  • i can see the difference on youtube. the clock hand thing is flashing then it stops.

  • I will try the irc channel, thanks!

  • oh, that is nice, yes.

one thing I've not been able to do is to use this feature to reproduce your multi-flower animation. rather than copying the flowers I was hoping to reference a single flower and use different time offsets to it, but it's looking like it might not be possible to use more than one time offset per object.

  • I suspect it won't work in 0.61.04. It's a shame we still don't have an OSX build of a recent version. Did you notice you can right-click & export other parameters too, to name them? Like if you've got a gradient you like, you can name it. It helps to see what's linked with what.

  • It's OK to write here, but there are better places. I just made a wiki page called 'Communication' detailing 2 of them. :) wiki . synfig . com / Communication

  • Sorry for writing this here, maybe it's the wrong forum to discuss Synfig.......I couldn't help my self, I was so excited!

  • Ha!! I discovered one cool thing. If you have a couple of encapsulated objects with different names inside another encapsulated object, you can choose (by right clicking the canvas parameter) which one you want to be visible in the main window, if recording is enabled, it will also be recorded....great! This means you're able to switch very easily between different scenes! It also makes it more easy to manipulate the keystrokes for every different object (move in time).

  • I understand, I exported an encapsulated object, gave it a name..all worked fine, but every time I try to add default canvas layer synfig crashes. I'm running the latest working version for OSX, 0.61.04, so maybe it's less buggy in your version?

Anyway, thank you for letting me know about the function I'll try it some more now.

    cheers! / Ulrik
