During the final stages of our sail across the Pacific from Panama to New Zealand, we visited Palmerston Island, a small community started by one British man, William Marsters, and three Polynesian wives back in the 19th Century. We were hosted by Eddie, the head of one of the three lines of family.

  • Sadly not. When we arrived, a sail training schooner with 50 teenagers on board was just leaving, and I think they wanted a rest! As with all Pacific Islanders, very hospitable though.

  • wonderful place- great memories!

  • I just found your video. We were there September 2007 and they sang the same song with us as with you apparently. Did they teach the dance to you that goes along with it?

  • Kia Orana my little paradise Pamati,

I'm very lucky to visit this tiny paradise where everyone on the island is related.
