LIGHTS OUT! This was our 42-hour weekend emergency preparedness drill. It was a great learning experience, and definitely an adventure! We learned what we were good at, and what we failed at, showing us where we needed to improve. I would recommend this exercise to everyone. Here is the link to my new blog which has some links, information and videos on this type of subject matter. http://younatuber.blogspot.com/

  • Your dog is cute, he looks bored. LOL

  • Hahah. Ol' Jack? Nah, he's always along for the ride wherever we go, whatever we do. He's a faithful companion to our family, that's for sure.

  • I must have missed something ? What is in the Blue Bottles ?

  • Thieves Oil! I bought all the ingredients a while back and made the mixture the night or so before we started the drill. Google it real quick and you'll be AMAZED by the properties of this stuff!

  • I put my solar flashlight in my window sill on the west side of the house and it charges daily.

  • Awesome!

  • Kerosene is often overlooked as a lighting, heating and cooking source.

Unlike alot of other fuel, it will stay good for years and can be bought in bulk.

Its possible to heat, cook and light a home on a gallon or less a day.

  • Sure it is! Adults and kids alike can accomplish so much under extreme circumstances, and becoming familiar with a scenario such as this can make a load of difference! Don't allow "I don't know if..." or "I'm not sure how..." mindsets reign. There is *always* a way, no matter how dim or grim the prospect may be. Also, this is a GREAT way to find out what your limits are, really get to know your abilities. It boosts your confidence too, for when the situation DOES hit. Thanks for watching!

  • I think playing emergency is a great idea. We just might just try it. Thanks for sharing.

  • Being on the "same page", I am convinced, is one of the keys to survival, as a family. Were we all going in different directions, there would be nothing but chaos, disorder, panic, and ultimately, failure. Failure in a survival situation is NOT an option. Not for me. :)
