Chester City Centre Illegal Plying For Hire

Chester city centre at night plagued by private hire vehicles ranking up and illegally plying for hire. The Cheshire West and Chester Council seem to be happy to let this continue night after night. Everyone involved knows exactly what is going on and yet nothing is done.

How about Plying for Hire without a license, and driving with no insurance. Thats on top of being illegally parked. Or are you actually naive enough to believe that every job picked up there is legitimate.

Also in regard to throwing stones - who was taking pictures and plate numbers in St John Street on monday nights and bleating about the Black Cabs on Cruise. Maybe these videos are a response to that. Like you said "When you live in a glass house ???

Have the council just not got around to putting the signs up or the lines outside Cruise Opposite RB's and on both sides of the cross?

@MuttsNutsAA As Chester is a Heritage city there are certain constraints in regard to signage and road markings. Just because YOU don`t know where the TAXI ranks are does not mean they don`t exist.

Maybe someone will make a video pointing them out. Did you know there was one outside the Queens Head or Upper Crust - No I didn`t think so. You will soon though when you start getting tickets for parking on Taxi Ranks.

In the first two short clips what are the Hackney Carriages doing parked at the side of the road to the left? Is there a TAXI rank there??.

@TaxiDriver108 Actually there is a taxi rank there for 3 cabs from 11pm until 6am next time you are passing have a proper look at the sign. The council just haven`t got round to painting the lines yet.

@baldandold Nobody is perfect and I am sure there are drivers on both sides who flout the regs, however the situation in Chester is so blatantly out of hand something has to be done. Nobody has a problem with Private Hire who do the job correctly (and there are many in Chester that do) the problem is the ones that don`t. This must also impact on the decent drivers whose legitimate jobs are whisked away before they can get there.

So you will be making videos of the black cabs also flouting the regs? Or is it solely aimed at PH?...While I understand your argument, and I agree it is wrong,but your only gripe is because it effects the black cabs from making money in that area..if we get down to the nitty gritty, I am PH driver,and I can recall a few incidents such as- Black cabs overloaded, people sitting on each others knees, or how about passengers smoking out of the window?,wheres the enforcement there? Rules for 1 etc

@Taxichester LOL i'll not be getting any ticket for parking anywhere you crazy little fool I was over charged by a law fearing Black cab driver so I'll be getting drunk again on Saturday night n jumping in a Private Hire car n Payin a little over £5 to get home or, Maybe i'll make a video of a Ride round chester n video the price n post it on you tube?

@Taxichester Its a bit ironic that the PH drivers badgered the council to come out on patrol and forgot they were all illegally ranked themselves! oops. Never mind lads, get yourselves down to the castle car park, plenty of room for you all down there. We will sort out a low loader to fetch fatty down from fresco.

It would seem the PH drivers have forgot about certain taxi firms taking photos of hackneys near Cruise. Dont like it when you get some back do you lads? I must admit though it was a very crafty ploy sending such a grotesque photographer. A few of our lads are still having nightmares. Bang out of order. Just remember there are only 6 hacks allowed at the station at any time!!! so its not really wise to throw stones when you live in a glass house.

What offence has actually been caused by the private hire lads?
