Night Rain (Dunaway)

As part of The Vocal Art Ensemble's "Solstice--Dance of Light" concerts in December 2011, Sonja Brodt choreographed "Autumn Rain" to the piano solo "Night Rain", composed by Davis composer Jacob Dunaway (b. 1993). In it, Deardra Larson-Maynard (white) is at first enjoying the rain (represented by Sonja Brodt), before she realizes the storm is building in intensity, growing ever threatening with lightning and thunder. As the danger of the storm passes, she is once again left to enjoy the rain, but this time with a sense of humility in the shadows of nature's power.
