Josh Ruebner, National Advocacy Director of the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, went to Freedom Plaza in Washington, DC, on October 6, 2011, on the opening day of the "Occupy DC" protest, to ask people what they think of the United States spending more than $3 billion per year on weapons for Israel and not on unmet needs here in our own communities.

A national coalition of more than 380 groups, the US Campaign works to end U.S. support for Israel's occupation of the Palestinian West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem. We support a U.S. policy that upholds freedom, justice and equality.

  • What does Israel need all that military aid for? To bulldoze Palestinian homes and protect them from whom?? Israel already has nuclear weapons, so who would dare attack them? Let's keep our taxpayer's money at home and help those who really need it, like the unemployed, the indigent who need healthcare, etc.

  • @scottgogator affect on me .. but still if it means to watch our fellow palestinians get kicks out of their land and terrorised and being called terrorists and being forced not to go to the UN to become an acknowledged country and getting vito'd by the US then here comes the time to starve for the sake of what is right !

  • @abcas1990 The relative merits of the two competing (Israeli/Palestinian) narratives can be argued until we are both old men. The bottom line is that until Palestinians are willing to compromise their claim to "Palestine" they will continue to disproportionately suffer. The latest P effort to avoid compromise (via UN bid) and co-existence with a JEWISH country in the ME is a reflection of the continued Arab/Islamic rejection of the same.

  • @scottgogator about the aid to egypt .. 3 bill. half of which is in weapons and the other half 1.5 bill for "food" .. mubarak had around 40 bill... egypts GDP is around 450 bill so don't tell me we don't have the money or land to feed ourselves .. we take the aid just to keep peace with israel .. it's a little extra money why would we say no .. we buy cars here for around 4 times the price its sold in the US .. im greatful for the aid i dont want to act like an ass .. although i never felt its

  • abcas1990 says " if it wasnt for ur aid israel wouldnt have even existed"

You mean the re-establishment of the Jewish Nation of Israel for the third time would have ended? You know that Israel existed as a sovereign nation almost three thousand years ago my friend. Re aid: Israel has the ability to do fine without US aid whereas Egypt, unfortunately, is unable to feed its people right now. Why exactly is money filthy anyway? Are you some kind of Marxist who would rather people starve?

  • @scottgogator im egyptian .. and i totally agree with that .. cut ur aid to egypt & cut ur aid to israel too .. keep ur filthy money to urselves and leave the fucking region alone !.. if it wasnt for ur aid israel wouldnt have even existed ..

  • Israel efending its citizens from suicide bombers et. al. is a blessing in my book!

  • So I guess we should stop funding Egypt 2+ Billion/yr, The Palestinian Authority 900 million/yr, etc. etc. Oh wait this isn't about US aid ... IT's all about delegitimizing Israel ...

  • Hardly a valid survey but the right answer nonetheless ;-)

  • @ProHumanRights Did you mean Jim TRAFICANT; the former Congressman from Ohio?
