Sydney Coastcare group, Eco Divers, featured in news feature about shark nets.
Shark nets kill hundreds of non targeted animals each year - rays, dolphins, harmless sharks etc. Of over 300 species, there are typically only 4 shark species that have been known to be inquisitive with humans, exploring with a bite. Many sharks that are caught are found on the inside of the net.
Nets in Sydney cost hundreds of thousands of dollars in contractor fees for checking, replacing and removal of drowned animals.
