(English IPA: /ˈlʊdvɪg væn ˈbeɪtoʊvən/; German IPA: [ˈluːtvɪç fan ˈbeːthoːfn], December 16, 1770[1] -- March 26, 1827) was a German composer and virtuoso pianist. He was a crucial figure in the transitional period between the Classical and Romantic eras in Western classical music, and remains one of the most respected and influential composers of all time.

Born in Bonn, then in the Electorate of Cologne (now in modern-day Germany), he moved to Vienna, Austria, in his early twenties and settled there, studying with Joseph Haydn and quickly gaining a reputation as a virtuoso pianist. Beethoven's hearing gradually deteriorated beginning in his twenties, yet he continued to compose masterpieces, and to conduct and perform, even after he was completely deaf.

  • @randev1988 Very interesting indeed.

  • @berniesbargreece If you are an Englishman/ English woman, then you are an Anglo-Saxon.Since the Anglo-Saxons migrated from Germany, you are of Germanic descent. i.e. a proud German!

  • I am German

  • @dondongo666 I am an Englishman, however I change nationalities when listening to classical music.

  • @berniesbargreece I know what you mean, but this doesn't make any sense. And you're not German, haha.

  • I've been searching for this music for many days o_o

  • an amzing music from the land of poets and thinkers.

  • @RimsterVision Being proud of something that you weren't a part of doesn't make any sense. If you achieve a certain goal yourself (or together with others), like finishing a project, you can be proud of the outcome, because you're the one who influenced it.

However, nobody got to choose whether he wants to be born as a human or an animal, which is why it's illogical to be proud of the outcome.

  • European Anthem - anthem to be proud to be a human being !!

  • beautiful, so very delicate...and yet majestic
