Europe heading for severe recession - 19 Jan 2009

The European commission has warned that the continent is facing a "deep and protracted recession," far worse than previously thought.

The executive arm of the European Union has forecast that by the start of next year one in ten of the Eurozone's population will be unemployed.

It says the worst hit countries will be Spain and the UK, both of which are currently scrambling to halt the slide. Jonah Hull reports.

Europe will soon be the only continent in the world with it's own `capital ´ !

Der Spiegel magazine this week reports that the un-elected EU Commission has `Big ambitions for Europes capital ´. These include 10,000 new offices for their 30,000 burocrats and an office space as big as 40 football pitches for the un-elected Commissions employees.

Who'se to pay the hundreds of millions ..` perhaps billions ´needed for this project ?
