Terry Bozzio At 2011 Drum Night Pt 2

In this second clip from his performance at last August's 2011 DRUM! Night festival, Terry Bozzio improvises over a 5/4 bass drum ostinato. Rather than taking the opportunity to rip some of his ferocious chops, Bozzio uses his carefully tuned drums and cymbals to create a contemplative drum composition that explores the possibilities of texture and melody.

$200,000 worth of drums and cymbals should at least SOUND like 6 people playing together. This sounds like one guy walking around a drum shop trying everything. Not saying I'm better, hell no. Not even close. I just can't see the point of a drumkit the price of a house when it can't even conjure the sound of say... a good afro-cuban rhythm group. Horatio "El Negro" Hernandez has a regular-ish kit and sounds like a complete Latin rhythm group.

@hjfkhgfckhcckhg Saw it; This is the opinion of a musician that hasn't gotten the amount of gigs he's got, yet Its a seemingly straight forward beat I've heard from him; he bores me most of the time, His Rhythms are crap compared to the music he tries to emulate; With all his 1/4 tones. However will reiterate myself in a better way; Terri Bozzio is pepper, it's tasty and still a spice, but.... umm every band in the world that plays his style (actually most of the other genres to) needs salt..

@AL3XAPOCALYPSE94 he does keep really impressive rhythm on the bass though while he's speeding like you could never imagine with his hands. i like what he's doing but i couldn't really stand the sound of it.

not going to lie and i don't mean to hate, its just my opinion but guys like this probably just about every percussion piece that he owns, doesn't use half of it and either sounds boring, and when its not its kind of annoying. i'm nowhere near as good but i'm just wondering what was so entertaining about this.
