I must say this is my favorite version of Congo Square. Please post more songs on YouTube with this same lineup of musicans?

When I was a younger fellow, an art teacher once mentioned that she thought that, at times, it took more creativity to copy an existing piece of work than it was to create it originally. I pondered that a long time as it made little sense to my young mind.
Now, I think I know what she meant. There are no expectations or boundries for an original piece. Only the creator knows whether he has achieved his goals.
A tribute artist works within the established bounds yet make it his unique own A+

Excellent version of CS. I was introduced to this song via Sonny Landreth when he played in Mass last year.
A good song should have a life of its own!!

Ha is right! Thanks Twangbarfly. I hope you had a good gig.

Ha! In the end we didn't play it, and I was pretty frustrated.. LOL! But on the positive side it gave me the opportunity to acquaint myself with your version, and for that I am grateful! :-) Take care!
This is one of my favorite YouTube clips. Killer groove and vocal, and nice rides (especially liked the quotation from "Aquarius.")
I don't know if your version predates the Neville Brothers, but that Clavinet is great for bringing out one of the best riffs in rock.

You are too kind. Thanks so much. I do love the song and the band did such a nice job on it. It was filmed and recorded by a small cable TV station in Madison called WYOU. The Neville Bros. were the group we heard do it first. They do the hell out of it don't they?

I have no idea how I got so lucky as to play with Clyde for a couple years. That guy is that good every night. The bass player was George LeGros who shared lead vocal on Kind of a Drag (Buckinghams) - great guy. He died in 2000 of cancer. The guitar player is Jim Pharo who has played with various bands and was always that good. It was a joy to be on stage with such interesting styles. I'm so glad there is a Youtube where we can share performances like this. Nice to meet you.
