This set looks exactly like the last production run of CTC-39 tube type sets but is solid state. I also demonstrate the Nintendo NES with Bugs Bunny's Crazy Castle.

  • Any reason why you disabled the Instant On feature?

  • I disabled it because it keeps the filaments turned on constanly on the picture tube as long as it is plugged in (at a reduced voltage though). This feature tends to make the CRT weak just through having it powered constantly, and I don't mind waiting for it to warm up.

  • Nice TV!!!

And I have to say: Back when I first started collecting vintage TVs (Dec. 23, 1997) that is something I LOVED doing: Playing my NES/SNES/N64, etc. on them!!!

Once I move, I'll have to set them back up again on my TVs.

  • Good luck on your move...I hope you will have a good place to setup your TV's. I can remember when I moved from a 2nd floor apartment to my property and we had to move lots of TV's down the stairs and haul them in a minivan! Didn't even have the tommy lift truck or Dodge van then.

  • first i tought you pull a ashtree

  • I used to have an xl100 that looked almost exactly like this. It had the dial tuners and the tray thing for picture controls. The only difference was that it had a separate power switch (looked like a wedge) above the dials, and it had a cabinet that had legs. Would you happen to know what model this was?

  • hey! do you know how to replace a tube in an RCA XL-100? it looks like a 12 - 18 inch screen with a big knob recessed on the right side. I think it's the tube at least because i was playing zelda on it w/ a N64 and set it down. When i came back 20-30 minutes later, the screen glitched and got distorted. I know absolutely nothing about TV's. I am 15. Is there a solution to this or will the TV come out of it. It has sat for about 10+ years and it was in a cold garage. Please help.

  • i want this.

  • We always had Zeniths.. God I miss those kind of TVs.. I sat in front of themon the floor all day and watched my favorite programs.. I personnally think these kind of TV s where and are still the best.. Thanks for sharing this !

  • My folks bought a Zenith 27" tabletop set in 1990 and it was fancy! Smoked glass and auto dim in bright rooms, computer access, TTY printer, weather access (where available) stereo sound, PIP, a ton of unbelievable features for 1990! It was over $1000 back then.....can anyone help me find the model number? Have looked and looked for one just for history. We have sucumbed to the LCD/Digital scam like the rest of the country! Thanks in advance! HELP!!! :)

  • I would be worried about screen burn on that if you play games too long.

  • @retrochad Does it keep the filaments on for the other tubes like the horizontal?

I heard they last longer running than being on/off but for 37 years?

That would mean it was on since I was born........I can't see that being good.

Do you ever notice sometimes you try and baby something and it turns out not lasting as long as somebodies that didn't care?

    Man I hate that,

  • 3:50 your so lucky......

  • My parents purchased a 1973 model XL-100 console in 12/1972. They still own it but it hasn't been used in about 12 years. It's housed in a Danish style cabinet, which was not a very common style for an early 70s tv. The channel indicator section is narrower than yours and it uses the rotary style pic adjust controls rather than the sliding type. It also has a lever style on/off switch instead of the more common pull out type. I hope to get it working again (along w/ my other vintage tvs).
