  • Raising taxres is not socialism though, that is written into the constitution. That the government can raise taxes as they see fit for the general welfare of the American People.

  • I want you to see how it feels. You think that people don't deserve health care because they cannot afford it and that is despicable. I hope that one day the shoe is on the other foot and your views will definitely change.

  • chuck todd saying advocate money was out pacing the one million a day spent by the insurance and drug companies is pure nonsense. obama had already taken the public option off the table before allowing elizabeth fowler, an executive for wellpoint for 15 years to write the goddamn insurance bill. where was all the mainstream reporting on this todd??? i think jeremy scahill exposed this guy as your typical career over substance guy.

  • Chuck Todd YOU have created this drama and all corporate media that falls for Fox news lies (so much for our liberal media) are part of the problem. Thank god the senators and members of the house are listening to their constituents instead of watching cable tv. We have been asking for a public option and 19 out of 20 polls prove that Americans want a public option.

  • I will conclude this with a note to everyone...

Read AngelMarieFox's comment as that of your typical liberal. When you don't agree with them, they wish you harm.

  • DO you seriously think that because someone can't afford health care means that they shouldn't get it? If you do, you're not only disgusting, but I hope you get incredibly ill and not have the insurance to cover you.

  • I'm only replying b/c I find this so funny.

So you think we should cover everyone "dying with various diseases?" Based on what? There is no legal clause (if you would please read what I provided) You can't just say I feel sorry for a group and arbitrarily take money from one group and give it to them. Hell, why not just pay 100% of your income to the gov't and let them take care of everyone based on your logic.

Does the Const provide the rights of gov't or their limitations? Please answer

  • General welfare means the general well being. If you think people dying with various diseases and being refused treatment doesn't constitute as someone's well being, then you are lost.

  • Please understand what general welfare means before using it as an argument

The fastest course to understanding it is to read Federalist paper #41.

The gov't has the power to raise taxes but only on those things that they are empowered. Those powers are listed in the Constitution (and healthcare is not mentioned) therefore, it falls to the states to take up items not mentioned (9th and 10th amendment). If general welfare meant the gov't to do ANYTHING, there would be no need to enumerate powers.

  • Hmmm, in your opinion, to coerce others to do as you want... even if against their will, is ok if it is the RIGHT thing for them.

So your worldview is when you get the power to coerce others (because people who think like you are in power) it is ok... break a few eggs as you say.

I don't pretend to know how to run your life better than you. And I would prefer you leave the right to do the same for myself and everyone else for that matter.

Who comes first... the individual or the collective?
