  • Do you know if UP allows regular railfans to come into the yard to take photos? I'm planning on visiting the yard sometime after Christmas.

    Hello,

The UP yard is boardered on all sides by city roads. You can drive along the eastern flank, go over the overpass on Antelope Rd., turn right and continue along the other flank up to the station. The yard itself is posted "Private" so you are not permitted to drive inside; however, the yard is very narrow so you can see all you really need to from either road.

I've outlined the route taken in the videos.

You can search Google Earth: Union Pacific Rail Yard, Roseville, CA and get a birds eye view of the facility.

I recommend beginning your drive on Atlantic St., off 80 and continuing south on Vernon Street, then Roseville Rd. Cross over to the other side as noted and drive up the other side on Antelope Rd. North. and meandering around.

I strongly urge that you visit the Calif State RR museum in Old Town Sacramento. It is worth the trip.

  • I live in Roseville

    Hello,

I do not know if the rail line goes to the Colton yard. I tried using Google Earth and following the tracks south but it became too confusing.

Thank you for viewing the series.
