This is my first ever totally original song. I wrote all of the music, and my dad wrote most of the lyrics. Please let me know what you think of it. Here's the lyrics:

When should I have known
That my time had been exceeded,
That your butterflies had flown,
That I wasn't what you needed,

I don't know why I couldn't see
The headlight on that train
That was heading straight for me,
And hauling all that pain.

My continent is shaking.

The sun and moon have deserted the sky.
There's no telling,
And no way to know,
Just no understanding why.

I'm still wondering,
When should I have known
That your love had all run out;
That that line on the horizon was your tidal wave of doubt.

My continent is shaking.
The bridge just fell into the bay.
I'd dig my fingers into you,
But you're so far away.

The sun's gone down on the whole world at one time;
The moon fell from the sky,
And there's no telling,
and just no understanding why.

I know you said
That you still care.
But I was looking right into your eyes,
And my reflection wasn't there.

As I drive away,
There's dust behind me in the air.
I see it in my mirror,
But my reflection isn't there.

My continent is shaking.
The mountain's sliding down my way.
I'd dig my fingers into you,
But you're so far away.

You're so far away.
