  • yeah the guitar riff on the verse is pretty much the same but my uncle was in Los Angeles in the 1980s and used to know a lot of musicians from then and he said that ann boleyn who was hellion's singer used to date king diamond so maybe there was collaboration

  • I love MF, but the main riff in this song was most likely ripped-off from a cult band from the USA called Hellion. They put out an early demo in the late 70s or very early 80s with a song called "Nightmares In Daylight" that has the exact same riff when the singing comes in. The Hellion song was out long before MF's first album.

  • @michael82085 Ya thats true, UFO were a big influence as were Scorpions(Uli Jon Roth is 1 of Denner's favorite guitar players and main inspirations) and ya as with me, they are my 3rd favorite band , but i pick Sabbath and Priest as my 2 other favorites, I still love early Maiden though, but ya, its all just opinions and stuff and I respect urs as well

  • @laithlaith91 I do see what your saying about Priest and such. Priest was a HUGE influence on M.F. but M.F. then was something more furious and way more evil/satanic.( I'm not a satanist) also listen to old U.F.O. - lots of michael schenker type riffs and licks are in M.F. so yeah lets call M.F. old school satanic heavy metal then, not black metal. works for me. I've seen them loads of times including "reunion " tour 1993. probably my 3rd fav. band ever after Iron Maiden and Judas Priest.

  • @laithlaith91 but I like your taste in music dude, everything is opinion when your talking about music (like any subjective art). but black metal is really just a loosly used term, and we just have some years between us as far as views. I'm not some huge black metal savior either, but true black metal to me is 1349, DarkThrone, Gorgoroth, old Emperor. but still when I want the real dark or black feeling it's M.F. most of these bands would admit if M.F. never existed....... I just want real deal.

  • @laithlaith91 I would say the only similarity for M.F. and Venom is the feeling of something very dark(overall feel, album art work, lyrics etc.) and the old school guitar riffing and sounds(although different guitar sounds). and that as far as "evil" type bands at the time, all the metal media at the time had this kind of rivalry or this "thing" between them, like who was more evil, who was more real etc. M.F. was obviously the real deal. venom later came out and said it was all for show.

  • @michael82085 and im not a black metal fan(except for the early bands), so mayb i dont rly fully understand it, but wat I know is Black Metal is sumthing Venom started, or according to Cronos is the term they use to describe their brand of metal, and then later on ppl latched on to the term to describe a genre of music, and from wat I can tell, Venom's music was pretty primitive, I dont hear any similarity between MF and them at all, and if I did, i probably wud call MF a black metal band

  • @michael82085 I get wat true metal really is, i dont c wat that has to do anything, unless u dont count bands like Witchfinder General,Metal Church,Heathen,Omen, etc., and dude, MF's music is more among the lines of bands like Priest and early Helstar and bands like that, and ive spoken to ppl that were around at that time and they told me that was no such term existed(Black Metal) they were calling everything just Heavy Metal and it wasnt until the thrash explosion that there were other terms

  • @laithlaith91 well, I never said M.F. is this ideal black metal band. but in early 80's they would be considered by many to be "black metal". and so you think anything with harsh vocals, very simple, and primitive is black metal? and satan has or never had an influence on black metal? o.k. what ever dude. your opinions are interesting. I think so many people just don't get what true metal really is and what makes metal - metal. and there are only a hand full of true B.M. bands out there any way

  • Gawd damn! Was this really 27 years ago?

  • @michael82085 MF released their first record in 1982, and they were making demos before that as well, they were also playing songs from Melissa before they even recorded it, and sum off DBTO too,Satanism doesnt make a black metal band black, its the primitive and brutal idea of the music, if Black Metal wud b jst bout satanism than i think jst bout every black metal band that exists today wud b just using that lyrical concept, and the way i see it, thats not rly the case
