How to use macbook as HD Movie Player on your HDTV 1080p

There are many jukebox products offering HD player for your Full HD 1080p LCD TV. I found that we can utilize the macbook to do the job.
Harware needed: Macbook, VGA cable, mini DVI to VGA conector, Apple remote, Macbook charger.
Software needed: Plex, sofacontrol, switchresx.

I was hooked up the sound to my audioi receiver through the headphone jack.
