Here's a clip from Ron's DVD, The Components of Landscapes
These are trees you see and they are done with a rigger and they're spreading and that's what I want them to do. It's all about a sort of vagueness. I might want a few silver birches in here like that. You see, nothing much but it should work.
You do it quickly and it gives it that nice frothiness. It's got to look like it's really raging. Put a little tiny touch of green in it. Say 1,2,3, go. It's all starting to work now. And here's the edge of that water coming over here. It's got to come roaring over the top.
I'm going to put some rocks in there while I get my towel back. This towel is very vital, it's like a brake on a car, if I feel it's getting to wet on here, I just dab it on and it gets rid of the wet. I want to have some little darks here, this is the corner of the water.
It's more or less finished down to there now. I'm going to put some rocks in it. Get some browns and blue and I get a credit card. See here's a bit of a rock. And it's starting to sparkle. See how soft these trees look. I put them in with a rigger but I knew as soon as I'd done it on the wet they would become to blur. So you've got the hard sharp trees here and it's beginning to come forward now.
Enjoyed this immensley such simple strokes that perform majic. Billiant. Why have I not found you earlier. Thanks.

I like this one a lot more than his other work. But Ron definately does not have a detailed accurate, fussy style. It's just wack it on, splodge it about and hope for the best. Painting with gusto!
