A bit of slidin' on my Michael Palm resonator to a backing track from Stand Alone Blues. I'm in dropped D tuning, using one of my custom made heavy brass slides.

If you'd like to learn more about playing slide in standard and dropped D tunings, visit my site http://www.bottleneckguitar.com where you can also order one of these beautiful slides. If you want to know how to make melody like this without once thinking 'scale' or 'mode' or 'pentatoninc', visit my other site http://www.thatllteachyou.com

Thanks for listening!

  • Beautiful sound. Is this mic'ed up? or plugged in with a magnetic pickup or an active piezo sort of system. I want to buy a dobro, but they advised me to buy one with a pickup, because it will not be loud enough for a live situation, and it will have feedback.

  • Thanks! It's mic'ed up.

  • Nice, do you ever use open tunings?

  • No, not any more. I just stick to standard or dropped D.

  • Kirk,

Excellent pice of work. I see you got your own engraved slide.

Love listening to your work. World class.

  • Classy slide, isn't it? ;-)

  • Man, now that's blusey. Way down.

  • Gotta love the sound of a resonator being played in slide tuning, when it's being played right with feeling.
