Vitoduval is correct. The music to this beloved logo is "Call to Danger" from the Hawaii Five-O soundtrack, composed by Morton Stevens. I wonder if Mr. Stevens had any idea how much he affected a generation!

This bumper always preceded all of the holiday / seasonal programing like the "Charlie Brown" cartoons, "Frosty the Snowman", and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" etc.,etc.

It always used to get my hopes up when it would turn out to be a political debate and not one of those specials.

Yes, just hearing that makes me still get a feeling of childlike exuberance and anticipation!

I remember seeing this in the '70's. It certainly has a "Hawaii 5-O" sort of musical vibe to it. It is astounding how these network IDs and color bumps will bring back memories of a childhood in front of the box. The NBC "Larime" Color intro can bring out a tear in memory of the past.

well the video isn't from 1973, there wasn't any closed captioning then, but they used that logo for years.

I'm pretty sure CBS used this same bumper from the early '70s well into the 80s.
