In September of 2006, Spokane, Portland, & Seattle #700 traveled to Salem, Oregon on the Portland & Western Railroad. Here we see the 700 heading for Cook Junction where it will spend the night.

  • 700's whistle sounds like N&W 611 to me.

  • "The Queen of Steam" herself!!! Thanks to Doyle and the guys that have contributed so much to keep the 700 and the 4449 running. Great video!!! ^_^

  • The bell and whistle on the 700 sounds exactly like the bell and whistle on the 844 don't they?

  • You can always tell who are the real railfans! 4449 left Chicago 8/2/2009 via the ex MILW line. There were 60 or so people where I was. All but a dozen were crowded at a suburban station. I was among the dozen who formed a photo line. Since several had video cameras we stayed quiet. All of us got great shots with no one in the way.

  • Those rude drivers! They should have stopped and formed a big line so that they wouldn't get in your shot! Or you could have just moved forward 50 ft or so....

  • It is both as a matter of fact. Can be operated in either mode.
