  • This point shows Sampras is not just a serve and volley player. His groundstrokes are extraordinary. People should shut up about how boring Sampras was. Sampras is simply awesome ;)

  • Serve and volleying was Pete's game. But he could rally you to death. Ask Andre Agassi about that. Pete 4-1 in Grand slam finals against Andre. I still like Andre, he was no Pete.

  • Pete moves like cheetah.

But he is strong like a lion.

  • WOW! First time I see a venezuelan tv channel on YouTube.

  • @quiet1234 Even when Courier was a monster Pete handled him from the baseline. 92 USO SF, 94 AO SF, 95 AO QF and USO SF. The majority know little about tennis pre 2000.

Back then Sampras was true all around player and had all the shots, noe he's 1-D. 1997 was the best of Pete. The all around brilliance of Gulickson blended with the net attacking of Annacone. Like Mac said"he's the greatest serve and volleyer and he'd rough you up from the baseline as well".

  • @ShutupHollywood and look at their earlier matches up till about 96, Pete was playing ALOT of baseline rallies against andre, and it wasnt arrogance that he believed he was better it was respect to andre's great passing shots, However sampras was actually dictating most of those rallies, 95 USO and Sanjose 96 are great exos but 94 Miami is the greatest never seen pete stay back soo much against agassi, and just pick him apart

  • amazing quality on this video. like a sony bravia :)

  • So far for the critics who say that Sampras was "only" serve and volley. Sampras' forehand was deadly, and his sliced backhand was not bad at all. Watch what he did to Enqvist, whom I consider to be one of the best and most underrated players of the 90´s.

  • Yeah. Just look at Rafa!

  • enqvist looks like kevin bacon

  • Natural for you maybe. If I could consistently rally like that I would be lookin to get myself sponsored.

  • The athletes are better certainly, but the new rackets and strings really help. They create more "bite" on the bill, so the harder you hit the ball the more spin you generate.

It's easier to play power baseline tennis when the ball always drops in ...
