  • @TMzong Uhh are you stupid? Part one has been out for a while now and I have actually seen it. It was very bland and full of generalizations. The characters Taggart and Rearden are portrayed as if they are God's gift to the planet while the workers below them are portrayed as stupid and just getting in the way of all the great and wonderful things Taggart and Rearden want to give to the world. An intellectually dishonest book and novel to say the least.

  • @burnticeblues has it failed? Are you sure of that? She never mentions anarchy or lack of government or weakness. What it is about is the basic fundamental principle of government; Justice. A government is needed to provide justice, to provide property rights, to provide protection from foreign invaders. These are the basic services which benefit everyone and in which a sound government is formed upon. No-one can step up and claim that vacuum of vacated power if these things are still provided.

  • @BlackFrontHeathen77 i could be wrong but how can a novel be dishonest when it is by definition fiction? yes, the novel goes to a severe "doomsday'ish'"extreme in it's depiction of govt. vs free enterprise i'd easily admit that, but that is legal for fiction and in no way compromises the base or core beliefs of objectivism. i have not seen prt1 but it's a shame if they screwed the movie up the way u said; it happens to great books. if u read the book? HR and DTaggrt r loved by their employees

  • @BlackFrontHeathen77 There is a lot of choices. Sprite, coke,Pepsi,Dr pepper, sprite zero, coke zero, diet coke, diet Pepsi, mountain dew, to name a few, and do not forget about all the juices available.

  • @sgapplebee Where is your freedom of choice in capitalism? Coke or pepsi? You really don't have any choice but to sell your labor power and be subjugated by those who have the privilege of property ownership (which is justifiable on nothing else but an initial investment; Lockean property theory).

With socialism, where education is freely available for all regardless of income you are much more free which path to walk in life. With capitalism you could be hampered by a myriad of factors.

  • @BlackFrontHeathen77,

Been there, done that. However, Ethics is more important than ANY other field. Even if socialism actually worked, it's still immoral. Morality has 3 prerequisites: Reason, Freedom and Intent. It may be argued (although, not very well) that socialism is "reasonable", and that it has "good intentions", but without individuals having freedom of choice, none of that matters.

ALL morality is based on choice, and all choice is based on freedom.

  • @BlackFrontHeathen77,

Marxism is over as well, time to move on.

  • @sgapplebee 3) LAssiez-faire will always, always, always remain a dream because those who are able to hoard mass amounts of wealth will always use such wealth to control the state. I think YOU should read some history. Econ 101 Either control the economy or have the economy control you.
