minds can be dysfunctional often only occasionally ,they can have a tendency towards certain behaviours ,but applying a label to someone would only give you an indication towards their possible behaviour and nature ,we're all a complex mix of shit. black and white thinking is seldom an accurate description of reality .oh I'm fucking pissed at the moment ,can't sleep !talking bollocks maybe ?

@sausage4mash yes, you are very pissed. I lived with my narc sister for my whole life. and she was tough as nails. And if you were too weak in her eyes, she trample over you basically. you would be a laughing stalk. Its not a very nice person to deal with.

Or it might just be some guy in my group of friends that all of a sudden decides its time to up his morale a lil. And how convenient, Im right here to soak up all his overachievements in my head and he knows I cant help but punish myself for every single damn thing I cant do (im really not smart or goodlooking). Its not really that bad being a narc, I mean, thats the whole point of being a narc. They never think the're incapable because the're the "best" in the world. Ignorance is bliss.

Hey I think the narcs automatically gravitate to people that have a lower self esteem or look weird etc. I suspect they might even be able to sense the mentally fucked up ones (aka me) in social situations and are always looking for the right moment to strike. Im what you would consider a higher functioning BPD and if you are just hanging out with me for a short period of time you probably wouldnt notice. But these bullies always do and they know Im fucked up mentally and emotionally.

@composer63 - Oh it sure is thought provoking, but not in the way u think or hope for. I like to think about the ethics of conduct in ones daily life, and the criterion of 'working' to effect ones goals does not figure highly. If everybody behaved in that self centred way, well, we'd all be the kind of narcissists that u allude to. I think u have not thought through all the considerations involved. I think such a pure 'personally' utilitarian position is philosophically naive.
