Funny story about that tree... A few years back when my dad and I were camping at the same spot a farmer pulled up next to us in his old pickup truck and glared into our camper. We were camping on the road allowance for only a few nights while we went hiking at a near by provincial grazing reserve during the day.
My dad opened the door of the camper and greeted the old farmer.
He grunted in reply, before saying "Yer better not be having any fires here, eh, cause the grass 'sis pretty dry this time-a-year."
A valid point, however my dad calmly told him that we were being very careful because of that, and we had fire extinguishers in the camper for emergency use.
"Err, well, ya know, even having the truck in the long grass can start a fire too," He grumbled out of the window of his old, idling pickup.
My dad was about to say something in response, however the farmer quickly interrupted him, raising his voice threateningly and said "Well I'd Bette'not see any smoke from 'round here or you'll be strung up from the tree when they find you!" Meanwhile gesturing at the near by tree, which became known to us simply as 'the tree' after that incident.
It just goes to show how few trees there are in Southern Alberta, when the only one within miles is lovingly dubbed 'the tree' (in singular) by the longstanding residents of the area.
