Song info - 3 days Grace, Animal I have become.

This is my first attempt at making a cover video. If people like it or it helps them learn I may make more. This song is fairly straight forward but fun to play all the same. Note: This is not 100% stroke for stroke. I do play with some artistic license and never play a song the same twice but in this case it is really close to the original.

Background

I have been playing the drums off and on for about 8 years. I am self taught and play for fun. When I play a cover tune I play it the way I want to play it. However, I do try to stay true to the musician's original scheme. I also play in a local alternative/progressive rock band with friends, again for fun.

Equipment

Kit - Gretsch Catalina Maple Fusion
Snare - Pearl Sensitone Elite
Cymbals - Paiste Innovations, Paiste 2002's, Wuhan chinas.

Heads
Toms - Evans G2 coated batters, G1 clear resos.
Kick - Aquarian SKII w/Ported Regulator reso.
Snare - Evans Coated Power center with Hazy 200 reso.

Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy!

  • what kind of sensitone is that? bronze?aluminum? brass?

  • @nightfoxteam It is a custom Pearl's custom alloy.

  • i can see you have a few troubles with phase issues on the snare

  • @Drimbz Probably. This was my first attempt at recording my own drums and don't think I had very good mic placement on the snare.

  • hey how did you get your toms to sound like that iv tried but never gotten em to sound that good ?

  • @PDrummer115 The trick I use is to tune them open then lower the pitch on the reso-heads so you get a slight pitch bend and a deeper sound. For live without mics this wouldn't sound that great but for recording it sounds nice and full.
