Unfortunatly it is quite true, very little of the hair they keep so make wigs, and the wigs are sold to the familys, although the price does depend on there income.

litaaq2: I never heard that before, if that's true, and I am not doubting you, I find that appalling!

Yeah, sure, Locks of Love people will be happy because they've managed to con yet another person and make money out of her naiveté. LoL is a well known fraud.

Actually - per Locks of Love's website it states, "The number of hairpieces provided has increased significantly since its inception. To date, over 2,000 children have been helped. Locks of Love has recipients in all 50 states and Canada and is working towards its goal to help every financially disadvantaged child suffering from long-term hair loss."
Locks of Love is a scam. They don't meet the Better Business Bureau's Standards for Charity Accountability. They have stated that they collect around 2000 ponytails a week, that's over 100,000 ponytails a year. They say it takes 6 to 10 ponytails to make one wig. If we say 10 that would be over 10,000 wigs per year. The have been in business since 1997 and have only made over 2000 wigs in over 10 years. Do the math.

You have just confirmed what I said: only 1% of the hair goes to alopecia patients, rest is sold. Locks of Love has also received millions of dollars as money donations according to the tax returns so where does all the money go? It certainly doesn't go to making wigs for just few kids. It goes to their pockets. Wake up, Locks of Love is a fraud.
