http://www.ntv.co.ke The IDPs standoff has raised the other emotive issue dogging the reform process land. Lands minister James Orengo says the new land policy due before parliament in the coming weeks will radically change the way land is owned and used in the country. The new policy also places stringent conditions on absentee landlord-ism.
Some of these people are funny! If you buy land and don't go there in 10 years, then it will belong to someone else!! Ati "wanakula vizuri huko Nairobi" as if that is a crime!! That land belongs to them that worked hard to acquire it and it doesn't matter how long you stay away from it...it will remain yours till you sell it or otherwise!!!

The law is very clear on this: if you are a squatter for TWELVE YEARS in someone's land, then YOU CANNOT be driven out - you must be given a portion or all of the land. That is KENYAN LAW. Go read it.

wtf...ati if someone working in nrb has a shamba but hasn't seen the shamba in 10 yrs, is it really yake? OF COURSE it is! I sympathize with these pple but you cannot just hijack someone's property without permission. I bet if they knew the owners of these pieces of land....some might be willing to let them stay on their land....
