Just got a chance to try DIOS-MIOS (replacement of MIOS to be used with either SNEEK+DI or UNEEK+DI) that allows one to play gamecube games stored in USB drive. There are two parts of this video. The first part shows that we could delete the savegame file, then create a new one and then play the game (cubivore). The second part shows after exiting from and returning to that game, the savegame file works fine.

This DIOS-MIOS is still in early development (e.g. has sound issues and limited games compatibility), so hopefully we could see further improvement.

Enjoy.

  • Do you happen to still have the source code? If so, could you upload it to somewhere like SourceForge? I'd like to take a look at it, and possibly improve it (with C++, not pure C).

  • @gigFL4SHK:

I could not do that since I am not the author of this code (i.e. do not have the permission), sorry.

  • @akpokemon it was discontinued

  • Nice--Any more progress??

I didn't expect it to have emulator-like problems. I'm a n00b when it comes to this stuff, but I thought the whole problem was just booting it into "Gamecube mode" while reading iso files, and after we're able to do that, we're home free!

...But I guess not. More complicated than that, eh? ha ha

  • Is this method still working now ?

  • @christiaan88 the loader is still in development so the noises are because the loader still have sound problems but hey at least it is a big improvement

  • Holyshit it looks amazing but eh...

What is the weird noise the game is making is it because of the usb loader thingy or just the game itself

  • Hooray! I knew it would become possible one day! =)

    Discs are sooo overrated xD

  • Fantastic! Looking very promising
