@ManofSteelo ... probably because Kenny Smith played at North Carolina under Dean Smith, while K.J. played at Cal-Berkeley, which certainly wasn't known for basketball.
@theinfamousdjalize Pippen was an obscure player coming from an obscure school (the University of Central Arkansas). Gilliam and Miller were both big names coming out of big schools (UNLV and UCLA, respectively), but one usually goes with the big man over the shooting guard.
... too bad that the Suns didn't receive the number-one pick; with David Robinson and Kevin Johnson, Phoenix may have become the team of the nineties.
@mamacornettesmoney Miller probably has a better chance at the Hall of Fame because of longevity and playing in the East, but K.J. constituted a superior player, easily. K.J. versus Pippen is actually pretty close and one could go either way, although Pippen ended up with the more accomplished career. But he also enjoyed the advantage of playing with Jordan ...
Wow at those highlights of KJ in college. He had that Isiah Thomas game and the commentators still hated on him. Well I mean it's Rick Barry, who doesn't know talent.
@thenextharryhaddiux Yeah, besides Robinson and Pippen, he's the best player in this draft. I guess you could argue for the Reggies, particularly Miller because of consistency and longievity, but I'll take KJ. that guy was awesome for a number of years.
can you imagine if Scottie Pippen never played for the Bulls and by the way why in the hell the my Suns couldn't have drafted Scottie or Reggie Miller instead of Armon Gilliam?..who?
