the role of the state should be to be a welfare state that pays for social programes like education, healthcare, etc., all to ensure that citizens are protected from economic woes. That of course means a lot more government involvement but in the US that has been construed as being bad because everyone needs to look out only for theselves, there is no community, and the idea of people constantly holding their gvt; accountable is too tiring. Ron paul supporters don't see the wood for the trees.

r-otherwhise-there-wouldn't-be -any-molopolies". If you ever thought about it: when you have no regulation you expect companies and other institutions to regulate themselves; that's like saying to a thief "there are no laws but promise you won't steal". His world'd be a more extreme version of what you have now because the recession was caused by companies and legal entities having too much freedom already. -
there are three things i like about ron paul and ONLY these three (because everything else is horrible beyond the craziest nightmare): his stance on civil liberties, his foreign policy and his capacity to stick to his principles. apart from that there's not a whole lot more to admire about him: he thinks social security is shit (yeah because so many people have a financial safety net these days, Ron). His healthcare plan seems to involve going back to neighbours helping each other (laughable).
