@pilli10 although I'm sure theres plug-ins and all sorts for this effect I went for a more crude method; FCP, 99 layers, each video starting a frame ahead of the layer below it, and cropping the bottom half of each one in increments of 1 (i.e. layer 99 is 99%, down to layer 2 being 2%, layer 1 being left as is), and a still of the first and last frames for the rest to catch up. Exported it and smoothed it out in Motion. Better example - watch?v=I2MsDogV4g4
