Rensselaer, Indiana is the setting for our video of Amtrak's "Hoosier State".
The Hoosier State is an off-day compliment to the tri-weekly "Cardinal" long-distance train, however the Hoosier State only runs from Chicago to Indianapolis and return. It often doubles as a 'hospital train' for Amtrak, meaning it is used to ferry equipment to and from Amtrak's Beech Grove Shops just outside Indianapolis. Today a Superliner and baggage car are along for the ride. This is on the former Monon Railroad mainline.
Rensselaer is 75 miles east of Chicago, and it is the second stop out of the Second City, after Dyer, Indiana, which is on the border with Illinois. 27 miles west of Rensselaer, this train lost a lot of time due to CSX signal problems.
This will be evident if you watch the video from start to finish.

Yesterday I visited Rensselaer, Indiana to see the St.Joseph campus and to see what is like.
